La Vieille Perrotine, located within 37 hectares of stunning natural heritage featuring two seawater lakes and many walking and biking paths, is a CNRS centre and holiday destination. It is situated on the Île d'Oléron, also known as the "Island of Light," a beautiful island located off the west coast of France in the Atlantic Ocean. It is the largest island along the French Atlantic coast and is renowned for its miles of sandy beaches, stunning landscapes, and rich cultural heritage. The island is also known for its rich history, including the historic Fort Boyard, a former prison that has since become a popular tourist attraction. In addition to its beaches and historical sites, Île d'Oléron also offers a wide range of activities such as cycling, fishing, sailing, and bird watching, making it a popular vacation destination for families, couples, and ... theoretical spectroscopists. The center features multiple conference rooms, with capacities ranging from 40 to over 200 attendees.
The center is located at the address "CAES du CNRS - La Vieille Perrotine - 140, route des Allards - 17310 Saint-Pierre-d'Oléron", which is at 74km from the TGV station La Rochelle.
The best way to reach the conference site is to take a train to La Rochelle, reachable from everywhere in France, via TGV or TER.
The GDR REST has organised a bus from La Rochelle TGV Station to the Conference center, on Monday 17:30.
If you are coming by car, you can put the address above in your gps and it will take you directly to the conference center. The longest/least convenient connection to La Rochelle seems to be from Marseille/Nice, where however ther is the possible Ryanair option (direct 1h30 flight).
We will also gather info about your departure on Friday to organise the best shuttle bus to La Rochelle at the end of the workshop.
